House Democrats want Gov. Chris Sununu to call the legislature into special session to codify the protections of Roe V. Wade into state law now that the U.S. Supreme Court has overturned it.
“New Hampshire has a proud tradition of responsible firearms stewardship, and I’ve long said that I’m not looking to make any changes to our laws,” Sununu said. “This bill will ensure that New Hampshire’s law enforcement efforts will be on our own State firearms laws – and that’s where I believe their focus should be.”
In a statement Monday, Sununu said “New Hampshire’s laws are well-crafted and fit our culture of responsible gun ownership and individual freedom.”
Within hours of Gov. Chris Sununu signing the controversial Republican-backed affidavit ballot bill into law Friday, opponents filed a lawsuit calling it unconstitutional demanding it not be enforced.
