    By DAMIEN FISHER, InDepthNH.org The Snapchat video made by Kyle Clampitt’s reported rape victim moments after the assault took place on a Dartmouth fraternity roof should not have been part of the trial evidence, according to an appeal notice filed by Clampitt’s attorney. Clampitt, 28, is at the start of his 20 to 40 year prison sentence after a jury found him guilty on 12 counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault this January, concluding the trial in Grafton Superior Court.

    By PAULA TRACY, InDepthNH.org CONCORD - With only a few days left before the Senate Finance Committee needs to pull together its own two-year budget, there appears to be some good news and differences from the House's version while big ticket items remain to be debated. While budget requests for the University Systems of New Hampshire at $85 million and funds for the Group II retirement account at $27.5 million a year remain on hold without a recommendation, some progress has been made this week on arts funding, the YDC settlement fund, and there may be some restoration of things like family planning funds and the state Human Resources Commission, childcare workforce help and more.

  • House Finance Committee Votes Along Party Lines to Expand Education Freedom Account Program

    By GARRY RAYNO, InDepthNH.org CONCORD — Down party lines, the House Finance Committee Wednesday voted to approve opening the Education Freedom Account to any student regardless of the parental income. The program, originally touted as providing low-income parents whose children did not fit into the public school environment with a pathway to alternative educational opportunities, currently has about 5,300 students and costs about $30 million this school year.

  • AG: Autopsy Shows Manchester Man’s Death Was a Homicide

    Concord, NH -- Attorney General John M. Formella and Manchester Police Chief Peter A. Marr announce that an autopsy has been completed on the body of Derek Jones Sr., age 60, of Manchester, New Hampshire. The autopsy was conducted by Associate Medical Examiner Dr. Abigail Alexander.
