The scene never gets old. I promised myself that I would never take this for granted. A reminder that I get to live where people vacation.
As a fly fisher, I have fewer meteorological expectations. I don’t know if it is because I’ve gotten tougher in my old age, but more than likely it has something to do with some of those brain cells I’ve lost. However, I still keep my eye on the weather.
Neither of us have fished that area much so we decided to do a little “Blue Lining.” Blue lining is the fine art of using a physical map and following the blue lines, which indicate rivers, in order to find fishing spots.
I took my time walking into the river. I wanted to take in every moment. The sun was warm and the colors that were still hanging on were amazing. What made me enjoy this time was that I knew what was coming.

I would read about the big Cutthroat Trout out west. I would see pictures of some of the most incredible scenery in Montana, Wyoming and Colorado.

The day was beautiful, and should I say it, almost Fall like. In the back of my mind there was an immediacy to that thought.
