The House has voted with the Senate to support an election law change related to identification for same-day voters, but it may face an uncertain future with Gov. Chris Sununu.
Gov. Chris Sununu’s plan to create a rapid, statewide, $100 million fund to develop low- and moderate-income housing and another plan to address the state’s mental health crisis with a new hospital at Hampstead for children, both using federal one-time dollars, were tabled by the Executive Council Wednesday.
The Senate killed a bill Thursday that would have required the federal government to notify the press and the public 24 hours before it plans a border check on roads within New Hampshire.
The state should live up to its promise and again pay a share of the retirement costs for municipal, school, and county employees, a Senate Committee was told Wednesday.
The state’s not-yet-begun paid family and medical leave program is on the chopping block for some Republicans.
The House killed two bills to allow immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses without the state’s current requirements.
Gov. Chris Sununu said he would veto redistricting maps for the state’s two congressional districts minutes after the Republican-controlled Senate voted with the House, 13-11, to adopt the House map.
For the first time in two years, the New Hampshire House met in Representatives Hall and began by honoring long-time legislator and advocate Renny Cushing who died from cancer last week.
