Manchester Police spokesman Heather Hamel confirmed there was a large fight and stabbing behind the old police department at 351 Chestnut St. That’s near the Families in Transition shelter at 199 Manchester St.
A second homeless person has died in Manchester since Christmas morning when a woman was found dead in a tent outside the Families in Transition shelter.
Several officers from the Community Affairs Division worked with people living outside the shelter to identify tents and property that had been abandoned. The shelter is at 199 Manchester St.
Hurricane winds and flooding rains didn’t stop the Ancient Order of Hibernians from delivering gifts for over 40 Manchester children just in time for Christmas. Manchester firefighters also got in the act with their red sleigh as well as Families in Transition.
Advocates gathered in Manchester on Tuesday evening to urge U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-NH, to end her opposition to lifting Title 42, and to call on New Hampshire’s Congressional Delegation to protect the rights of asylum seekers and promote humane immigration policies.
