What People Say About Us…

“Who does New Hampshire want to have its back when the next hare-brained, get-rich-quick, cockeyed, scenery-trashing, money-grubbing scheme threatens New Hampshire’s greatest legacy---it landscape? Well, I’ll want the reporters and editors at InDepthNH.org---the only news medium that staffed the critical Northern Pass hearings, from beginning to end. InDepthNH.org---good, solid, statewide news coverage, the kind you can depend on, the way things used to be and the way they should.”
John Harrigan, writer
Colebrook

"We desperately need investigative news organizations like InDepthNH to counter the fake Facebook postings and toxic partisan diatribe masquerading as the truth. I’m immensely grateful to InDepthNH for the invaluable work they do."
Gloria Norris
Filmmaker, author of KooKooland

“New Hampshire owes a debt of gratitude to IndepthNH.org for its investigative journalism covering government accountability issues. It has been a pleasure teaming up with them to enhance government transparency and accountability in the Granite State.”
Gilles Bissonnette
ACLU-NH Legal Director

"The arrival of InDepthNH.org has been a game changer. It has filled the void of providing investigative journalism in New Hampshire. InDepthNH.org has provided ethical, quality journalism on issues that impact the lives of New Hampshire citizens daily. In addition to giving a voice and a platform to those who would otherwise be voiceless."

  • Carbon Sequestration, Sobriety Check Refusal Punishment Now Part of Parental Rights Bill

By PAULA TRACY, InDepthNH.org CONCORD - A measure to impose a moratorium on creating any new carbon sequestration forest farms in the state and the formation of a study committee on the impacts to the municipal timber tax revenue is more likely to pass into law after Littleton Republican Sen. David Rochefort got his colleagues to include it in a non-related parental rights bill. House Bill 560 was also used as a vehicle for Sen. William Gannon, R-Sandown, to include that refusal to consent to testing for operating under the influence of alcohol would yield the driver a one-year loss of license rather than the current 180 days.  The amendments passed on voice votes in the Senate Thursday.

  • House Votes New Requirements for Absentee Voting

By GARRY RAYNO, InDepthNH.org CONCORD — The House made it more difficult to vote by absentee ballot passing several bills that will require more information to vote in absentia Thursday. The House also failed to change the state’s primary election day from September to June, and decided cities and towns have to purge their voter checklists yearly instead of once in a decade.

  • Education Freedom Accounts Expanded by House

By GARRY RAYNO, InDepthNH.org CONCORD — The House once again voted to expand the Education Freedom Account program, opening it to any New Hampshire child regardless of his or her parents’ income. In an often contentious debate, Senate Bill 295 passed the House on a 190-178 vote and is expected — if it becomes law — to increase the state’s obligation by tens of millions of dollars over the next biennium while many state social services will be cut due to declining state revenues.

  • NH Senate Passes $15.7 Billion Budget Without Support from Democrats

By PAULA TRACY, InDepthNH.org CONCORD - Refusing to bend to any of the amendments brought by Democrats, the Republican-controlled Senate passed a $15.7 billion budget Thursday which is bound to head to negotiations with the House of Representatives. The Democrats hammered on the fact that among all these cuts Republicans were willing to spend $30 million on Education Freedom Accounts, which eliminates any financial threshold.
