  • AG: NH Deaths of Woman and Child Investigated As Possible Murder, Suicide

    Attorney General John M. Formella, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall, and Pembroke Police Department Chief Gary R. Gaskell announce that officials are currently investigating the suspicious deaths of an adult female and minor child in Pembroke, New Hampshire, that occurred early this morning, Friday, May 9, 2025. At approximately 1:00 A.M., officers of the Pembroke Police Department responded to a single-family residence in Pembroke in response to a 911 call.  Upon entering the home, they made contact with the reporting party and discovered an adult female and a minor child that were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  The minor child was transported to Concord Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased, and the adult female was pronounced deceased inside the residence.

  • WMNF Madison Gulf Trail Bridge Closed; Official Appalachian Trail Detour Identified

    Gorham, NH  May 8, 2025 -The Madison Gulf Bridge which crosses the Peabody River along the Appalachian Trail on the Androscoggin Ranger District has been closed after an inspection deemed the bridge unsafe for pedestrian traffic. The bridge will remain closed until a new structure is designed and installed.

  • Undocumented Immigrants Targeted by NH House Majority

    By GARRY RAYNO, InDepthNH.org CONCORD — Counties or communities could not stop their law enforcement departments from helping federal agents with enforcing immigration laws under a bill the House passed Thursday. The bill would also prohibit cities and towns from becoming sanctuary communities for immigrants after the House added the provision to the bill.
