CONCORD — An assessor and appraiser who has often done battle with Eversource over property valuations did so again Monday during a hearing on the Northern Pass Transmission Project.
Those with Eversource/PSNH easements burdening their properties, who would bear the brunt of the industrial ugliness of the towers, would receive no compensation under the PUC’s settlement.
BOSTON – New England residents today hit Eversource Energy and Avangrid Inc. with a class-action lawsuit stating that the two energy companies caused electricity consumers to incur overcharges of $3.6 billion in a years-long scheme that impacted six states and affected 14.7 million people, according to the lawsuit filed in federal court in Boston.
UPDATED – “If this project goes through and the property is passed on to my sister and myself, I don’t know if I can ever go back up there and feel the same way,” said Dawn Bilodeau Scribner, whose family owns property in Clarksville near the new right-of-way for the 192-mile project.
Concord officials testified against Northern Pass on Thursday. The Concord City Council voted in 2015 to oppose the project.
Eversource Energy/Northern Pass issued a news release Thursday saying the U.S. Department of Energy approved a Presidential Permit for Northern Pass. The decision was praised by Gov. Chris Sununu and blasted by the Conservation Law Foundation.
A panel of Concord officials will testify as a group on Thursday at the state Site Evaluation Committee’s hearings on the Northern Pass Transmission Project.
