The NBA program bypasses local government to pay for related police overtime, training, and overhead, while promoting applications for federal DHS grants to buy equipment, including Tactical Gear, Breaching Equipment, Mobile Command Vehicles, Mobile Repeaters, Infrared Illuminators – and that’s just so far. Berlin, a small city whose police entered into an NBA agreement, and is more than 35 miles away from the nearest point on the Canadian border, has applied for all of that.

Governor Ayotte and AG Formella recently applauded the new bail law and bail reporting system, suggesting that Berlin murder victim Marisol Fuentes would be alive today had these changes been in place when her husband, Michael Gleason, murdered her last July after being released on bail, suggesting that he would have been held in pre-trial detention instead.
