Each June, communities across the United States gather to celebrate Juneteenth, a blend of “June” and “nineteenth”, as the end of slavery in the U.S. But few people know the full history of the end of slavery.
To honor this milestone date, NHCJE spoke with Jeff Symes, who leads the Unified + Inclusive Arts group, based in Nashua, New Hampshire, about the initiative’s effort to promote inclusion in the arts industry.
Though English remains the dominant language spoken, there are significant communities speaking Spanish, French, Chinese, Russian, Polish, Vietnamese, and many other languages.
