The scene never gets old. I promised myself that I would never take this for granted. A reminder that I get to live where people vacation.
Neither of us have fished that area much so we decided to do a little “Blue Lining.” Blue lining is the fine art of using a physical map and following the blue lines, which indicate rivers, in order to find fishing spots.
I would read about the big Cutthroat Trout out west. I would see pictures of some of the most incredible scenery in Montana, Wyoming and Colorado.
The day was beautiful, and should I say it, almost Fall like. In the back of my mind there was an immediacy to that thought.
There are not many things more enjoyable to a fly fisher than hiking into a river or stream and catching a beautiful brook trout. Sometimes when that happens we take it for “Granite.”
My favorite gear is the gear that I get a good deal on. That is why I haunt antique shops, thrift shops, auctions and fly fishing shops.
I am usually a utilitarian shopper. I know what I want and I get in and out of a store rather quickly.
