It wasn’t an effort by Free Staters. It was a proposal by one resident, who has an extensive record of writing about the need to simultaneously improve the quality and reduce the cost of education in New Hampshire.
I say this because it’s been my experience that when someone in Croydon approaches me, with genuine curiosity about my views as a Free Stater, I tell them that — speaking just for myself — I prefer to have less government interference, rather than more, in my life.
The Croydon school budget that was cut in half at the annual meeting in March on a motion by Free Stater Ian Underwood was restored to its full $1.7 million at a special meeting with a huge turnout Saturday.
Free Stater Ian Underwood’s successful motion to cut the Croydon School budget in half from $1.7 million to $800,000 Saturday has the school board scrambling to make the new numbers work and some folks in town furious that it is binding.
