“We are in the wait and see position right now,” said Hydro-Quebec spokesman Lynn St-Laurent. She said the Northern Pass project was further along with an in-service date of 2020. “We need to see what is going to happen,” St-Laurent said, “to see if the in-service date 2020 still holds.”

CONCORD — Opponents of the Northern Pass transmission project celebrated Thursday afternoon as the Site Evaluation Committee unexpectedly voted 7-0 to deny the application.
CONCORD — The seven Site Evaluation Committee members said Thursday they do not believe Northern Pass developers have met its burden of proof that the project would not negatively impact the orderly development of the region, one of four criteria that must be met for approval.
CONCORD — Site Evaluation Committee members challenged the credibility of a number of Northern Pass experts on Wednesday during the second day of deliberations on the proposed $1.6 billion transmission project.
While Site Evaluation Committee members are in general agreement that Eversource has the financial, technical and managerial capability to construct and operate the 192-mile Northern Pass transmission project, they believe loose ends and gaps need to addressed.
CONCORD – On the eve of deliberations on the Northern Pass Transmission project, intervenors asked the Site Evaluation Committee to reject a new motion from the project’s developers.
Mass. Attorney General Maura Healey announced a review of the decision because project developer Eversource — the largest electric utility in the Commonwealth — helped write the request for proposal and sat on the selection committee, as did the second largest utility National Grid. The 12 deliberative sessions in New Hampshire begin Tuesday at 9 a.m. at 49 Donovan St., Concord.
While the Northern Pass transmission project awaits regulators’ decision in New Hampshire, Massachusetts energy officials announced it is the only one of 46 proposals selected to move forward in its Clean Energy project.
