When Martha Hennessy was released from a federal prison and transferred to an “adult residential re-entry” program in Manchester, it wasn’t her first trip to the Queen City or her first entanglement with the criminal legal system.
Monday marks the two-year anniversary of Eversource’s decision to give up on its plan to construct a $1.6 billion, high voltage, 192-mile transmission line traversing New Hampshire from north to south.

Currently, Dr. Hampton is the Executive Director of Ending the Violence, a Dover New Hampshire-based organization that provides educational classes to perpetrators of domestic and sexual violence both in the community and in the county jail.
The other day I took a friend to my favorite view of the Sandwich Mountain Range, but alas it was shrouded in smoke from the wildfires out West. Those low hanging toxic clouds were a reminder of just how connected all things are — and how vulnerable New Hampshire is to the consequences of global warming.
My morning ramble in the valley between Rattlesnake Ridge and the Waterville Range today was a troubling cascade of thoughts and revelations.
We pulled into the area around the Junction Pool and noticed a bunch of cars and the New Hampshire Fish and Game stocking truck.
After missing a year, this summer’s event felt especially joyful. There was an incredible sense of unity and connectedness.
