In a full-page ad in the Boston Globe on Sunday, the Conservation Law Foundation told Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker that the proposed Northern Pass project should be disqualified from the Mass. Clean Energy RFP aimed at reducing carbon emissions because it lied in its bid.

The town of Bethlehem wants the record on the Northern Pass high-voltage transmission project reopened after a hotel developer said it could jeopardize his plans to build a Homewood Suites by Hilton in Bethlehem, according to a motion filed Thursday.
Department of Transportation Assistant Commissioner William Cass says the department intends to hire a private firm at Northern Pass’s expense to monitor permit compliance and construction agreements along state roads because it does not have the staff.
The developers have not provided site specific plans to restore more than 800 wetlands that will be disturbed by Northern Pass construction, according to wetlands expert Raymond Lobdell.
“Today marks a major milestone, adding one more key authorization to those that have already been granted on both sides of the border, and moving us closer to proceed with the Québec–New Hampshire and Northern Pass Transmission projects,” said Éric Martel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hydro-Québec.
