A House committee wants to create a fund that would pay for the care of seized animals in abuse cases.
NH Senate budget hearings will be in the State House May 7 and Manchester City Hall May 8.
The legislation is the product of the Coastal Risk and Hazards Commission, whose final report was released in 2016; it passed the Senate in March.
This legislation would codify into state law protections for people with preexisting conditions and essential health benefits.
The Senate wants to wait and see what the House does with its bill banning discrimination in public schools before moving forward with a similar House-passed bill.
The committee heard half of the speakers in three hours and agreed to reconvene on May 7 at 9 a.m.
