A new University of New Hampshire poll shows that the majority of New Hampshire residents oppose overturning Roe v. Wade and oppose any restrictions on a woman’s right to choose, and nearly one-third of Roe v. Wade supporters would be more likely to vote in the fall if it were overturned. There would be very little surge in enthusiasm among anti-choice voters.

That should worry Governor Sununu, who last year signed New Hampshire’s first abortion ban into law. The ban criminalized doctors trying to help patients during difficult circumstances and made no exceptions for rape, incest, or fatal fetal anomaly. Sununu calls himself “pro-choice” to some audiences, and brags he’s “done more on the pro-life issue… than anyone” to conservative audiences.

Sununu admitted he was open to signing additional abortion restrictions into law, yet again showing New Hampshire women he can’t be trusted to stand up for their rights.According to members of his own party over the past few days, there’s very little Sununu can be trusted on. As the legislative session comes to a close, Republican leaders have been publicly rebuking the Governor on a number of issues.

NH House Majority Leader: “The governor just stabbed every Republican in the back.”

NH House Member of GOP Leadership: “Sununu cannot be trusted.”

Former Trump Official Josh Whitehouse: “Sununu has done a lot to alienate himself from his party’s own base… they all feel like they’ve been sold a bill of goods.”
