  • After Great Ski Season Two Resorts Announce New Lifts for Next Season

    By PAULA TRACY, InDepthNH.org CARROLL - After a banner season with lots of snow coming at just the right time, two New Hampshire ski areas have announced plans to build new and replace lifts. Pats Peak in Henniker has retired the Hurricane Triple Chairlift to make way for a fixed-grip quad lift featuring a loading conveyor for smoother and more efficient loading.  Bretton Woods announced Monday it is replacing The Bethlehem Express Quad with a new BEQ II lift, an advanced, four-person Leitner-Poma detachable quad.

  • After Senate GOPs Vote Against Field Hearing on Budget, Dems Schedule One in Hampton

    By PAULA TRACY, InDepthNH.org CONCORD - The Senate Finance Committee will hold a public hearing on the House passed budget on Tuesday, May 6 beginning at 1 p.m. at the State House, but the Republican controlled body voted against a suggestion they "go on the road" to hear what the public has to say. Senate Democrats, however, announced a public listening session on the budget will be held on Wednesday, April 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Winnacunnet High School, 1 Alumni Drive in Hampton.  RSVP at tinyurl.com/nhsenatedems. Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee Senator James P. Gray, R-Rochester, said it is a very busy time in Concord and asked, "How do you fit it in?"

  • Opposition Turns Out for Expanding Education Freedom Account Program

    By GARRY RAYNO, InDepthNH.org CONCORD — Little support was shown for the Senate’s proposal for expanding the Education Freedom Account program to eliminate any income requirement Tuesday. Senate Bill 295 would drop the current salary cap to be eligible for the program 60 days after the bill is signed into law and would cap the number of students in the program at 10,000 beginning with the next school year.
