Notable New Hampshire Deaths: She Once Was an Assistant to Barbra Streisand

The grave of Jacob and Martha Leavitt in Leavitt Cemetery, located on Canterbury Road in Chichester. The cemetery was created by the state legislature in 1854 as a stock company, with several prominent residents of town the stockholders. It was taken over by the town in 1936. It is a little over seven acres.  Jacob P. Leavitt, 78, who died  Dec. 19, 1907, was listed in historical records as  a blacksmith and farmer. His wife, Martha A. Leavitt, was 40 when she died Jan. 31, 1874.

David Livingstone Chase, 91, of Holderness, died July 10, 2024. He founded Chase Builders of Tuftonboro and built many homes in the Wolfeboro and Tuftonboro area. He was also a realtor in  Wolfeboro and Ossipee. (Baker-Gagne Funeral Home)

Virginia L. Duston, 101, of Hampstead, died July 15, 2024. She and her husband Donald owned and operated Don’s Market in Hampstead for nearly 15 years. She served as interim town clerk and was a founder of the Hampstead Conservation Commission. She was also a member of the Hampstead Historical Society and preserved her own farm in a permanent conservation trust. (Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium)

Deborah Ellen Whitney, 54, of Derry, died July 10, 2024. She had a career in television programming and entertainment in Hollywood, working for Creative Artists Agency, then as a personal assistant to actress and singer Barbra Streisand for two years. Later she worked for Public Interest Productions where she was involved in creating anti-discrimination public service announcements for MTV and engaged in projects in South Africa and Brazil. She worked for Fox Broadcasting for five years in television show pilot programming development. After moving to New Hampshire, she worked as an EMT for Care Plus Ambulance Service for three and a half years. And was a paramedic for American Medical Response where she worked for nearly 13 years.
