Two Manchester Department of Public Works employees were shot Thursday morning while walking on the sidewalk in the area of Manchester and Union streets. Both suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to a news release from Manchester police.

Their names were not released and the gunman remains at large.

“At approximately 9:20 a.m., two Manchester Department of Public Works employees were walking on a sidewalk when they were approached by a man known to one of them. For reasons that remain under investigation, the man pulled out a gun and fired at the two employees,” police said.

Police are actively looking for the shooter but say there is no information to suggest there is an ongoing threat to the public.

Several roads were initially closed but they have since reopened.

Manchester Mayor Jay Ruais said he remains in close contact with police and the Department of Public Works.

“I have been informed that the victims are home and recovering. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our first responders and city employees. Our thoughts remain with those affected, and we are grateful for the positive news regarding the victims’ recovery.”

Police asked that anyone with information call Manchester Police at 603-668-8711.
