CONCORD, N.H. — Today, Governor Kelly Ayotte announced that she is seeking applications for key positions at state agencies that are currently or soon-to-be vacant. Interested applicants can learn more about opportunities on a new page on the Governor’s website.
“From leading our economic development efforts to overseeing our beautiful state parks, there are some critical roles we need to fill to serve Granite Staters,” said Governor Ayotte. “We’re looking for talented, qualified individuals who want to give back to our state in these important positions, and I encourage anyone who is interested to send in an application. Commissioner, Department of Business and Economic Affairs
The Commissioner of Business and Economic Affairs is responsible for promoting New Hampshire as a premier destination for companies of every size who are looking to grow and thrive. The Commissioner also oversees travel and tourism promotion, ensuring our state continues to welcome visitors from every corner of the globe. Candidates should have a strong track record of administrative and business development experience that will help them lead operations across all divisions and effectively manage resources.
Commissioner/Chair, Public Utilities Commission
The Commissioner and Chair of the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission leads the agency responsible for regulating the state’s electric, natural gas, water, and telecommunications utilities. The Chair also handles all administrative duties and must manage the complex regulatory process, oversee agency operations, and maintain transparency in decision making that impacts the public. Candidates for this role must believe in protecting ratepayers first and foremost, ensuring fair rates and reliable service for all of New Hampshire.
This is a full-time position for a term of six years. While serving in this position, the Chair cannot engage in any other gainful employment.
Director, New Hampshire State Parks, Department of Natural and Cultural Resources
From the summit of Mount Washington to the shores of Hampton Beach, New Hampshire State Parks draw millions of visitors a year to our state and are critical to preserving our natural beauty. The State Parks Director works to protect New Hampshire’s natural beauty while enhancing outdoor recreation and visitor experiences for generations to come. The ideal candidate for this role should have a love for the outdoors and strong business acumen, as they must ensure the Parks Division’s 93 properties — including state parks, beaches, campgrounds, historic sites, trails, waysides and natural areas — are well-maintained, financially sustainable, and accessible for all.
Director, Division of Libraries, Department of Natural and Cultural Resources – “State Librarian”
From supporting local libraries to preserving important historic and government records, the State Librarian oversees the New Hampshire State Library and ensures it fulfills its mission to serve state government, libraries, and the public. The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for learning, sharing knowledge, and celebrating our great state. The position requires a master’s degree in library science and at least four years of experience in an administrative position in a library.
