Haven is a southern New Hampshire agency that works with people threatened with domestic violence and abuse. It is also an expanding agency that is developing a new headquarters in Portsmouth. It’s at a church property on Route 1, with an eye toward increasing its services. Podcast producer Roger Wood speaks with Kathy Beebe about what Havennh.org is all about.

Kathy Beebe, MS has been a leader in the field of sexual and domestic violence prevention for her entire career. The year 2024 marks her 34th anniversary as a recognized and visionary leader and 21st year as Executive Director of two smaller organizations that merged into HAVEN in 2015.
HAVEN is the largest domestic and sexual violence prevention and support agency in NH.
As Executive Director at HAVEN, Kathy leads a highly skilled team to oversee all fiscal, operational and programmatic aspects of the agency and works alongside with the Board of Directors in providing agency leadership and strategic planning to create organizational sustainability to further the mission of HAVEN.
She has a Masters of Science in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from New England College and focused her thesis on the building of strategic alliances between nonprofits. Most recently, Kathy received the coveted Lori Breard Achievement in Leadership award. She currently serves as the Board Chair for the NH Center for Nonprofits. She has previous Board experience with the NH Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, Strafford County Family Justice Center and Leadership Seacoast and was appointed by former Governor Lynch to the NH Judicial Selection Commission where she served for three terms.
She was born and raised in Portsmouth and currently resides there with her daughter Brenna.
Roger Wood is an award winning radio, podcast, newspaper and television journalist, with over 50 years of experience in the media. Roger has spent his entire professional career in New Hampshire. Roger currently serves as associate publisher and podcast producer at InDepthNH.org. In 2021 and 2022, he was recognized by the New Hampshire Press Association for his work in news podcasts. He is the 2022 winner of the NHPA lifetime achievement award. Prior to that he was honored for his work in broadcast radio news and public affairs. He has produced news and special feature reports for InDepthNH,New Hampshire Public Radio, NPR, and other public and commercial radio stations. He also has produced spot news for CBS Radio. He has produced and narrated some 50 audiobooks and has written three novels. Roger has also moderated political forums for Seacoast Area Chambers of Commerce in Senate, gubernatorial and congressional races. He has also facilitated public policy discussions locally and statewide. He has three adult children and four grandchildren. Roger and his wife Elaine, reside in Portsmouth.with their cat Maura.
