One Person Dies in Litchfield Fire

LITCHFIELD, New Hampshire – New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean P. Toomey, Fire Chief Doug Nicoll and Police Chief Daniel Jones announce that a fire occurred at 7 Century Ln. in Litchfield on February 20, 2024, at approximately 8:00 AM.  A victim died as a result of this fire.  

Witnesses observed fire coming from the middle of a 1 ½ story split-entry style building.  When the Litchfield Police and Fire Department members arrived on scene, they realized that one of the occupants was unaccounted for.  They attempted to enter the home but were unable to do so due to the intense fire conditions.  The deceased victim was located inside the home once the fire was extinguished.     

Positive identification of the victim and cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy that will take place at the NH State Medical Examiner’s Office in Concord, NH, on 2/21/24.

The investigation into the origin & cause of the fire is active and ongoing by members of the NH State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Litchfield Fire and Police Departments.
