LINCOLN, New Hampshire – On September 10, 2023, at approximately 6:51 p.m., Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop F Barracks responded to a crash on Interstate 93 South in the area of mile 104.4 in Lincoln. Troopers arrived to find that a vehicle had rolled over and came to rest on its roof on the right shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle was a:
2011 Infiniti QX56
Color: White
According to witness statements and roadway evidence, the operator of the Infiniti was driving on wet roads and in rainy conditions, when an animal came out onto the roadway south of Franconia Notch. The driver swerved to the right side of the road where the vehicle overturned and struck a stone wall marking the sign for “Leaving Franconia Notch State Park.” An adult female passenger was ejected and trapped under the vehicle, later succumbing to her injuries. A second vehicle following witnessed the crash and backed their truck into the Infiniti to help lift it off the female. The driver and four children that were also in the vehicle received minor injuries.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction (CAR) Unit, Linwood EMS, Lincoln Fire Department and the Lincoln and Woodstock Police Departments. The right lane was closed for approximately four hours while the scene was cleared by emergency personnel.
