CONCORD – The man accused of murdering his five-year-old daughter Harmony Montgomery was sentenced Monday on unrelated criminal charges related to being an armed career criminal and theft of firearms.

Adam Montgomery, 33, of Manchester was sentenced to 32 ½ years in prison.

He will stand trial in November for the murder of Harmony.  He has been charged with second-degree murder, witness tampering, falsifying physical evidence and abuse of Harmony’s corpse and accused of punching her several times in the face.

At the sentencing hearing, he told Hillsborough County Superior Court Judge Amy Messer that he understands he was found guilty of the charges he was being sentenced for, but insisted he loved Harmony and didn’t kill her.

“I understand that I was found guilty by a jury. I’m not here to dispute that at all. The only consideration that I ask of you this morning is for you to not consider anything as it relates to my daughter Harmony. I did not kill my daughter Harmony and I look forward to my upcoming trial to refute those offensive claims,” Montgomery said.

Montgomery told the judge he didn’t choose to be an addict and will use his time in prison to change things about himself.

“I could have had a meaningful life, but I blew that opportunity through drugs, but I love my daughter unconditionally and I did not kill her,” Montgomery said.

Attorney General John M. Formella and Manchester Police Chief Allen D. Aldenberg announced Monday’s sentencing in Hillsborough County Superior Court – Northern District in a news release.

In June, a jury found Montgomery guilty of two counts each of Armed Career Criminal, Theft By Unauthorized Taking, and Receiving Stolen Property for stealing two firearms, a Mossberg shotgun, and an AR-15 Bear Arms rifle, from a home in Manchester between September and October 2019.
At trial, testimony was elicited how Montgomery then negotiated the sale of the guns, one of which was later recovered.  Montgomery agreed at trial that he had requisite previous felony convictions that qualified him as an Armed Career Criminal.

In the aggregate, Montgomery’s sentence mandates a minimum of 32½ years of incarceration given the defendant’s extensive criminal history, according to the news release.

Harmony’s remains haven’t been found. The Manchester Police Department continues to investigate her murder and asked that any information about the location of her remains or the circumstances of her murder, please call or text the 24-hour tip line dedicated to Harmony Montgomery at 603-203-6060.

“I appreciate the hard work of our trial team and the Manchester Police Department and thank them for their efforts in this case. I would also like to thank the court for the consideration and thought given in today’s sentencing. The Manchester community and all Granite Staters can be assured that we will continue to seek justice and protect the people of New Hampshire,” Formella said.

Two additional sets of firearm charges against Montgomery have not yet been scheduled for trial.
