New Hampshire Man Leads High-Speed Police Chase

CANTERBURY, New Hampshire – On July 29, 2023, at approximately 7:18 a.m., Trooper Romig of the New
Hampshire State Police Troop D barracks observed a Silver 2016 Chevrolet Cruze without a rear license plate traveling north on I-93 in Canterbury.
After Trooper Romig exited the crossover, the vehicle increased its speed to 124 MPH while passing vehicles in a reckless manner. The vehicle then took Exit 18 and Trooper Romig attempted to stop the vehicle at the stop sign at the base of the off-ramp. The vehicle took off, passing a stopped vehicle on the right. The vehicle ran the stop sign and continued westbound on West Road at a high rate of speed.

A pursuit ensued during which the operator of the vehicle continued driving in a reckless manner before
eventually stopping and fleeing on foot into a residence. The suspect, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was identified as:
Steven SEAMAN
Age: 22
Bethlehem, NH
SEAMAN was subsequently charged with Disobeying an Officer, Reckless Conduct, Unregistered Vehicle, Failure to Display Plates, and a Stop Sign Violation. SEAMAN was bailed on his own personal recognizance and is due to appear in Concord District Court. New Hampshire State Police Troop D was assisted by the Special Enforcement Unit utilizing the State Police aircraft, the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office, and the Canterbury Police Department.
