Wrong-Way Driver on I-293 Arrested for Aggravated DWI with 2 Young Children in Car

On May 28, 2023, at approximately 12:40 a.m., New Hampshire State Police received reports of a silver sedan traveling the wrong way on Interstate 293 in Manchester.

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire – On May 28, 2023, at approximately 12:40 a.m., New Hampshire State Police received reports of a silver sedan traveling the wrong way on Interstate 293 in Manchester. The initial report received indicated that a vehicle was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes, in the area of exit 6.

As Troopers from the Troop B and Troop D Barracks attempted to intercept the vehicle, another report was made that the wrong way vehicle had made a U-Turn on the interstate at the Upper Split of 93/293 and was now traveling southbound. Troopers were able to locate and stop the vehicle as it approached Exit 5 in Manchester.

The driver was identified as Sulma Canales Cabrera, age 26, of Nashua, New Hampshire. Cabrera was arrested by Troopers and is facing charges of Reckless Conduct, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Accompanying Cabrera in the vehicle at the time were two young children, ages 10 and 6. Cabrera is scheduled to appear in the Superior Court in June. Anyone with information regarding this incident is being asked to contact Trooper Bryan Taylor at (603)223-4381 or Bryan.L.Taylor@dos.nh.gov.
