Berlin Man Indicted in Murder of Neighbor

Attorney General John M. Formella announces that Nomar Ramos-Rivera, age 44, has been indicted by the Coös County Grand Jury in connection with the death of Christopher Veliz, age 40, on February 3, 2023, in Berlin, New Hampshire.

On April 21, 2023, the Coös County Grand Jury returned indictments charging Mr. Ramos-Rivera with one count of second-degree murder for knowingly causing Mr. Veliz’s death by shooting him and an alternative count of second-degree murder for recklessly causing the death of Mr. Veliz under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life, by shooting him.  Mr. Ramos-Rivera was also indicted for two counts of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon for firing into a vehicle occupied by two minors, C.V. and H.V.

Mr. Ramos-Rivera continues to be held without bail. Arraignment on these indictments has been scheduled for May 12, 2023, at 9:00 A.M. via WebEx.

The charges against Mr. Ramos-Rivera are merely accusations, and Mr. Ramos-Rivera is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
