Two Unidentified Inmates Injured in Assault at State Prison in Berlin

Berlin, NH – The New Hampshire Department of Corrections announces the investigation of a resident-on-resident assault which occurred at the Northern New Hampshire Correctional Facility in Berlin.

Around 7:00 A.M. this morning, facility officials responded to an assault between two residents. One resident received serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital and has since been transported to a trauma center.

Due to the severity of the injuries, the New Hampshire Department of Corrections requested investigative assistance from the New Hampshire Department of Safety Division of State Police, and the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office has been briefed.

The department said it wasn’t releasing the names of the two inmates because of the investigation.

Additional information is not expected to be released unless there are significant developments in the investigation.
