MANCHESTER, N.H. – The New Hampshire State Police are investigating a drowning in Manchester.
At 7:14 p.m. on Friday, July 24, Marine Patrol Officers were notified of a possible drowning in the Piscataquog River near Douglas Street in Manchester.
The preliminary investigation determined that the victim, later identified as Pacific Sibomana, 23, of Manchester, was walking along the Piscataquog River Trail with a friend when he entered the river to swim alone. Shortly after, the friend observed Sibomana struggling in the water. They called emergency services, and together with responding members of the Manchester Fire Department, they pulled him back to the shore and started lifesaving efforts.
Sibomana was transported to a local hospital before being transferred to a regional hospital, where he was pronounced deceased on the morning of Saturday, July 25.
At this time, investigators do not believe the death is suspicious.
Marine Patrol Officers were assisted at the scene by members of the Manchester police and fire departments and the New Hampshire Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
