A Hillsborough County Grand Jury in Manchester has returned an indictment against Hepay Juma, 26, in connection with the suspicious death of her infant daughter who was found deceased in Pine Island Pond in Manchester on March 27, 2025, according to a press release from Attorney General John M. Formella.
Hepay Juma has been indicted on one count of Second-Degree Murder for recklessly causing the death of Baby Jane “Grace” Doe, her child, under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life.
Juma is scheduled to be arraigned on this charge on July 16, 2026 at 11 a.m. in the Hillsborough County Superior Court – Northern District.
A suspicious death investigation started following the discovery of the deceased newborn in the area of Pine Island Pond on the afternoon of Thursday, March 27, 2025, in Manchester.
At approximately 4 p.m. that day, Manchester Police responded to a report of a body in the water at Pine Island Park, located off Brown Avenue. Responding officers located what appeared to be the body of an infant in the water.
