Police are investigating the death of Leah Anderson, 21, a student at Plymouth State University majoring in Elementary Education and Youth Development, after a shooting in Thornton, according to a news release from Attorney General John Formella.
At approximately 8:20 A.M. on Monday, officers of the Thornton and Campton Police Departments responded to a residence on Mad River Road in Thornton in response to a 911 call, the release said.
On arrival, officers found Leah Anderson suffering from a wound to her head. “Ms. Anderson was transported to the hospital where she received treatment for her injury. Ms. Anderson has since died as a result of that injury,” the release said.
An autopsy on Leah Anderson is scheduled to take place Tuesday. Additional information will be released as it becomes available while protecting the integrity of the investigation, the release said.
