CANDIA, N.H. – Route 101 eastbound was closed for two hours Friday night after wintry weather led to poor road conditions and multiple crashes in Candia.
At 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, State Troopers assigned to the Troop A barracks responded to reports of two separate multi-vehicle crashes on Route 101 eastbound, just east of Exit 3 in Candia.
The four drivers involved in the first multi-car crash were all treated for minor injuries, and their vehicles were towed from the scene.
The eight drivers involved in the second multi-car crash were also treated for minor injuries, and their vehicles were towed from the scene.
While the multi-vehicle crashes were being investigated, six additional crashes occurred in the area. Troopers believe the crashes were related to drivers traveling too fast during icy road conditions.
Due to the crashes and road conditions, Route 101 eastbound in Candia was shut down for approximately two hours while emergency responders worked to get the road reopened. All lanes were back open by around 7:15 p.m.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by members of the Candia police and fire departments, the Auburn police and fire departments, the Raymond Police Department, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
Troopers would like to remind all drivers to reduce their speed while driving in inclement weather and ensure that their vehicles are properly equipped, with tires that have sufficient tread, to handle wintry conditions.
