While there have been no illnesses in New Hampshire to date, 20 people in other states have gotten sick with listeriosis after eating these products. Four have passed away.

Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Division of Public Health (DPH) advises consumers not to eat Marketside Linguine with Beef Meatballs & Marinara Sauce produced by FreshRealm. The product has been recalled because it may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.

There is a multistate outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections linked to prepared meal products manufactured by FreshRealm.

The recall includes 12-ounce Marketside Linguine with Beef Meatballs & Marinara Sauce products with “best if used by” dates of September 22, 24, 25, 29 and 30 and October 1, 2025, which were distributed to New Hampshire Walmart stores. Consumers who purchased or received recalled meals should check their refrigerators and freezers and avoid eating or serving these products.

“Foods that are contaminated with Listeria may not look, smell, or taste any different,” said DPH Director Iain Watt. “The best way to prevent sickness is to check your refrigerators and freezers for recalled products and avoid eating them.”

Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can cause serious and sometimes fatal listeriosis infections in young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. Listeriosis can also cause miscarriage, stillbirth, or preterm labor in pregnant women.

Symptoms of listeriosis include fever, muscle aches, and sometimes nausea and vomiting. If the infection spreads to the nervous system, symptoms can include headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, or convulsions. Listeriosis can be treated with antibiotics, so anyone who suspects they may have the illness should contact their healthcare provider.

For more information about this recall and outbreak, visit the CDC webpage, the USDA webpage, or the FDA webpage. Anyone with questions about listeriosis can contact DPH at 603-271-4496.
