Executive Councilor Karen Liot Hill is doing exactly what we should want from our public officials: leading with integrity, transparency, and respect for the people she serves. By recusing herself from the Attorney General’s renomination vote, she is upholding the highest ethical standards to avoid even the perception of a conflict of interest. That is what accountability looks like.

Meanwhile, MAGA Republican Joe Sweeney’s reckless calls for impeachment expose just how far today’s extremist wing will go to silence dissent and intimidate anyone who stands up for Granite Staters’ voting rights. His threats aren’t about protecting democracy—they’re about undermining it.

New Hampshire families deserve leaders who will fight for their voices to be heard at the ballot box, not politicians who weaponize investigations and impeachment talk for partisan gain. Karen Liot Hill is putting the people first. Joe Sweeney is putting MAGA politics first.

We should all stand with Councilor Liot Hill against these baseless attacks, because defending the right to vote is not a crime—it is a cornerstone of American democracy.
