Update: AG Investigates Woman’s Untimely Death

Attorney General John M. Formella, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall, and Newmarket Police Department Chief Gregory Jordan announce further information related to the July 28, 2025, suspicious death in Newmarket, New Hampshire.

At approximately 11:57 p.m. on July 28, 2025, officers of the Newmarket Police Department responded to a residence on Maple Street in Newmarket for a welfare check of a resident.  Upon entering the home, Newmarket Police discovered Kylie Fritz (age 38) lying on the ground, deceased.  She appeared to have suffered from a gunshot wound.

Today an arrest warrant was issued for Stephen Field (age 39) charging him with one count of Second-Degree Murder, contrary to RSA 630:1-b, I(b), for recklessly causing Kylie Fritz’s death, and one count of Falsifying Physical Evidence, contrary to RSA 641:6.

An arraignment is anticipated to be scheduled for Wednesday morning at 9:30am in the 10th Circuit-District Division-Brentwood Court in Brentwood, New Hampshire. An autopsy on Kylie Fritz is currently scheduled to take place tomorrow as well.

The charges against Stephen Field are only allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Concord, NH – Attorney General John M. Formella announces that members of the Attorney General’s Office are responding to a report of an untimely death of an adult female at a residence in Newmarket, New Hampshire. The death was reported early this morning.

While the investigation is just beginning, all parties involved have been identified and there is no known threat to the general public at this time. The exact circumstances surrounding this incident remain under active investigation.
