Body Found in the Atlantic Near Isles of Shoals, State Police Investigating

RYE, N.H. – The New Hampshire State Police is investigating after a person was found deceased in the Atlantic Ocean.

At approximately 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2025, a person onboard a fishing vessel reported seeing a body floating near the Isles of Shoals to the U.S. Coast Guard. The Coast Guard relayed the information to members of the New Hampshire State Police – Marine Patrol, who responded and recovered the body.

The Isles of Shoals is is a group of small islands about six miles from the east coast near the border of Maine and New Hampshire.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the person’s identity, as well as their cause and manner of death. There are no known threats to the public at this time in connection with this incident.
