Gov. Kelly Ayotte issued a news release Sunday saying she participated in a briefing call held by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem about the “ongoing situation in Iran” on Sunday.

New Hampshire Department of Safety Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) Director Robert Buxton joined Ayotte on the call.

Noem issued a National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) Bulletin Sunday after the United States bombed three Iranian nuclear facilities on Saturday in a mission dubbed “Operation Midnight Hammer.”

The New York Times reported Sunday that “the actual state of Tehran’s nuclear program remained unclear. Top officials said it was too soon to say whether Iran still retained the ability to make a nuclear weapon and the location of its existing stockpile of enriched uranium was unknown.”

President Trump said the sites were “obliterated.”

Ayotte said in the release: “I thank Secretary Noem for holding a briefing call today to keep Governors informed of threats from Iran.

“I appreciated the opportunity to participate in this call and hear directly from DHS about efforts to protect New Hampshire and our nation. We will continue to keep these lines of communication open with our federal partners,” the release said.

According to a news release from the Department of Homeland Security there are currently no specific credible threats against the homeland.

“We encourage everyone in New Hampshire to be aware of their surroundings,” Director Buxton said. “If you see something suspicious report it to 911 or local authorities.”

Ayotte’s release said suspicious activity in New Hampshire also can be reported to the New Hampshire Information and Analysis Center through its online reporting form.

New Hampshire’s Congressional Democratic delegation, Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Maggie Hassan, Reps. Chris Pappas and Maggie Goodlander didn’t respond to questions Sunday about Ayotte’s briefing from Noem. All but Goodlander didn’t respond Sunday to questions about the attacks ordered by Trump.

Goodlander’s email said: “I am closely monitoring the situation in Iran. I have always remained steadfast in my conviction that this Iranian regime can never get a nuclear weapon. But I have a number of basic questions that deserve answers from Donald Trump and his administration. Among them: What was the constitutional justification for doing this without congressional authorization? Why did we abandon diplomacy that could have blocked Iran from a nuclear weapon without the risks and costs to the American people of direct military action? And what is the plan now? The American people deserve answers, and I will seek them.”
