AG Reports Police-Involved Shooting in Manchester

UPDATE: Attorney General John M. Formella and New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall announce an update regarding the ongoing investigation into the officer-involved shooting that occurred earlier today in Manchester, New Hampshire.

At approximately 4:40 p.m. this afternoon, officers from the Manchester Police Department responded to the Manchester Fairfield Inn at 860 South Porter Street to assist hotel staff with an occupant who had refused to vacate his room after the designated checkout time.

Upon making contact with the adult male occupant inside the hotel room, the individual discharged a pistol at the officers. In response, one officer returned fire, striking the occupant. Officers immediately rendered medical aid at the scene.

The subject was transported to a local hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. At this time, he appears to be in stable condition. No officers or other individuals were physically injured during the incident.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. There is no known threat to the public. Pursuant to protocol, the identity of the officer who used deadly force will not be disclosed until a formal interview takes place. Additional information will be released as it becomes available and when appropriate to maintain the integrity of the investigation.

The incident involved an adult male subject inside a hotel room on South Porter Street. The subject has been transported to an area hospital and there is no known threat to the public at this time. No officers were physically injured during the incident.

The exact circumstances surrounding this incident remain under active investigation.
