CONCORD, N.H. – The New Hampshire State Police have determined that a reported stabbing incident outside a state facility this morning involved a person experiencing a mental health crisis.

At 8:45 a.m. today, Feb. 24, 2024, State Troopers assigned to headquarters and the Troop D barracks responded to the parking lot of the Department of Environmental Services at 29 Hazen Drive in Concord for a reported stabbing. Callers indicated there was a person injured on the ground.

Troopers arrived on the scene, immediately located the victim and determined the injuries were self-inflicted, and there was no imminent threat to the nearby state facilities or the public. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Troopers have also determined the victim is not a state employee and it is unclear why they were on the premises.

Members of the Concord Fire Department and the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance to the Troopers at the scene.

The State Police remind anyone struggling with a mental health crisis that help is available. Anyone can call or text the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 9-8-8 for free and confidential support for themselves, a friend or a loved one.
