The polls in Croydon will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on November 5, 2024.
CROYDON, NH – The Secretary of State alerts voters in Croydon that polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the General Election on November 5, 2024. Town officials in Croydon originally posted that the polls would be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The press release announcing the change was issued at 3:30 p.m. Monday with the new schedule announcing polls will be open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Croydon polling place is: Croydon Town Hall 879 NH, Route 10, Croydon NH 03773.
The phones at the town clerk and tax collector’s offices were busy and could not accept calls Monday afternoon from InDepthNH.org.
On the 2000 state ballot, voters in Croydon were asked if polls should open at 11 a.m. instead of 8 a.m. Croydon officials believed the voters had voted to change the polling hours in 2000, but the Secretary of State’s Office determined that was not the case, according to a news release from Secretary of State David Scanlan.
The change in polling hours has been posted by local election officials in Croydon and has been updated on the Secretary of State’s Voter Information Lookup.

Press release issued at 4:30 p.m.
The Secretary of State’s Office instructed the Town of Croydon to change their polling hours to 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (from the originally posted polling hours of 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) to comply with State law. The Secretary of State’s records indicated that the voters of Croydon in 2000 voted at the state general election to keep the polling hours as 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM by defeating a question that would have changed the start time to 11:00 AM starting in 2002, and the Secretary of State’s Office found no record of a subsequent vote to change the hours to 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
State law provides that to change the polling hours for state elections, first the voters at town meeting must vote to place a question on the state general election ballot, the Select Board must notify the Secretary of State if the vote is in the affirmative, then the Secretary of State will place the question on Croydon’s ballot at the next state general election. If the voters at the state general election vote in the affirmative, the hours change at the following state elections. Otherwise, as occurred in 2000, the polling hours remain the same, which by the Secretary of State’s records is 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
