CONCORD, N.H. – On Monday, March 25, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop D barracks, along with members of the Concord Police Department and Concord Fire Department, responded to a report of a concrete truck that had crashed in the area of the Park & Ride on Stickney Avenue in Concord.
Further investigation revealed that the concrete truck, which was not carrying any contents at the time, had been traveling south on Interstate 93 when it veered off the right side of the road, striking a guardrail near the Exit 14 off-ramp. The truck continued for approximately 100 feet until the guardrail ended, then traveled to the right and went through a chain-link fence. The vehicle continued down an embankment and into a parking lot area near the Concord Coach Lines bus terminal on Stickney Avenue. The truck struck and damaged 10 other vehicles as it traveled through the parking lot. The truck then crossed Stickney Avenue and continued into another parking area, where six more vehicles were struck and damaged before the truck came to a stop. An employee from Concord Coach Lines was able to turn off the truck, which was still in gear with the wheels continuing to spin. In total, 16 vehicles were struck and damaged by the concrete truck.
The operator of the concrete truck has been identified as Scott Long, 57, of Alton Bay, N.H. Long was taken to Concord Hospital following the crash. The initial investigation indicates he likely suffered a medical episode. No other injuries were reported.
