The Associated Press called the Republican primary for former President Donald Trump and the Democratic race for President Joe Biden, via his write-in campaign, shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday.
New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley said: “Tonight, Granite Staters delivered an overwhelming victory for President Joe Biden in the Democratic presidential primary — all thanks to the hundreds of grassroots organizers who successfully coordinated an historic write-in campaign that mobilized tens of thousands of voters across New Hampshire.
“Despite President Biden’s absence from the ballot, Granite Staters still turned out in robust numbers to show their support for the great work that the Biden-Harris Administration has done to grow the economy, protect reproductive freedoms, and defend our democracy. Once again, New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation primary made history — and we are proud as ever.”
Former President Donald Trump spoke to his supporters in Nashua mocking his former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley and Gov. Chris Sununu who spent much of his time in recent weeks supporting her on the campaign trail.
“I’m watching this guy and two weeks ago, he said ‘we’re going to win, we’re going to win,’” then more recently said, “We want to do well. That’s a big difference,” Trump said.
Trump said he was 14 point up at that point in the count around 9:30 p.m.
“We had an unbelievable week last week in Iowa. We set a record. It was the best in the history of the caucus…” Trump said.
“We beat her so badly yet she’s taking a victory lap.”
Trump said: “We won in 2016. If you really remember and want to play it straight we also won in 2020” to wild applause from the audience.
Trump spent time speaking about immigration calling it a “big deal.”
He said people are coming over the border from prisons and mental institutions calling them drug dealers.
On Trumps’s victory, Buckley said: “Every time he set foot in New Hampshire, Donald Trump doubled down on his plans to ban abortion nationwide, give handouts to the ultra-rich and big corporations while leaving working families behind, and undermine our democracy. Trump is running on the same unpopular MAGA agenda that caused him to lose New Hampshire twice, failed to win election denier Don Bolduc a Senate seat, and helped lead to Democratic victories in special elections last year.”
