Derry, N.H. — Head of School Timothy Powers and Associate Head of School Michael Perez are proud to announce that the National Merit Scholarship Program has recognized three Pinkerton Academy students for their exceptional academic promise. Maxwell Garner of Hampstead, Mira Kondor of Derry, and Keith Sangillo of Candia have been named Semifinalists and are eligible to apply to be considered as Finalists in the scholarship program.

They are three of over 16,000 Semifinalists in the 69th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Should they choose to apply, their applications to be named Finalists will continue their consideration for some 7,140 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship?, earning the Merit Scholar? title.
