California Congressman Ro Khanna

California Congressman Ro Khanna will be guest speaker.

Dover Democrats’ Eleanor & Franklin Event – postponed three years by COVID – is back.

The “Comedy Show” will feature drag emcee Trisha LeFaye, stand-up comic Steve Scarfo, and a fun photo booth. The finale will be a retro dance party with a professional DJ.

The event will take place at the Elks Club, 282 Durham Street from 6 until 10 p.m. on Sept. 16. The menu will include hearty appetizers, an array of desserts and a cash bar.

Blended with the event’s spirited theme will be a call to support Democratic causes in upcoming elections.

Congressman Khanna, whose work to advance Progressive legislation in Congress has made him a leading voice in

Washington, said “I’m honored to join the Dover Democratic Committee to speak at their annual Eleanor & Franklin Event. This is a pivotal moment for Democrats, not just because 2024 is a presidential year, but also because of the critical local races happening right here in Dover and across the country. To win big, Democrats need to continue fighting for a patriotic economy where all Americans have dignity and access to opportunities.”

Two candidates for Governor in 2024 – New Hampshire Executive Councilor Cinde Warmington and Joyce Craig, Mayor of Manchester – will also speak. In addition, many 2023 City Council and School Board candidates will shake hands and share views with partiers. The Municipal Election will be November 7.

Dover Dems co-chair Nancy Vawter, who is chairing the event, said, “This fundraiser is critical for us to be able to support our local candidates in the upcoming elections as well as build our fund for 2024!

We have a lot of work to do. And we also want to meet our fellow Dover Dems and have a good time! We make getting involved a fun experience!”

Robbie Warach, also co-chair of Dover Dems, said: “Our first in-person Eleanor & Franklin Gala in three years is a great opportunity to learn about the policy platforms of Democratic candidates for Governor, and the comedy show and dancing make this a fun way to financially support our candidates in the municipal elections. Many of these candidates for local office will be present to share their ideas and make connections with fellow Democrats who share the same values. We’d love for you to join us!”

The purpose of the Dover Democratic Committee is to improve the quality of life of all persons, especially residents of Dover, through the democratic process of government at the local, county, state, and national levels.  The Committee works to promote and support the Democratic Party, to identify and elect strong Democratic candidates and to advance legislative actions reflecting Democratic values.
