Shapiro, and Danville Police Chief Wade Parsons announce that James Coe (age 20) has been charged with Second Degree Murder for knowingly killing his mother, Denise Damato-Coe (age 59) in Danville, New Hampshire on August 3, 2023.

Mrs. Damato-Coe’s body was found inside her home on the late evening of August 3, 2023, in Danville by officers responding to a 911 call for help. Upon arrival, officers discovered Mrs. Damato-Coe deceased inside her home.  The following day an autopsy by Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Jennie Duval determined that the cause of Mrs. Damato-Coe’s death was multiple gunshot wounds, and the manner of her death was homicide.

On August 9, 2023, a warrant was issued for Mr. Coe charging him with Second Degree Murder for causing the death of his mother by shooting her with a rifle, as well as Falsifying Physical Evidence for knowingly altering, concealing, and removing the rifle used to commit the crime.   This evening Mr. Coe was arrested on the warrant in Revere, Massachusetts, and charged with being a fugitive from justice.  He is currently being held without bail.  It is anticipated that he will be arraigned in Chelsea District Court at hearing to be scheduled in the near future, followed by extradition proceedings to New Hampshire.

The Office of the Attorney General, the New Hampshire State Police, and the Danville Police Department extend their thanks to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, the Revere Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police, and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office for apprehending and detaining Mr. Coe on a fugitive from justice warrant.

The charges filed are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
