Thursday in Lebanon: As President Trump Proposes Eliminating Northern Border Regional Commission, Shaheen To Highlight Its Importance for Northern New Hampshire

Later in Concord, Shaheen will address NH Association of Firefighters at their annual meeting
U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) will visit River Valley Community College to discuss the Northern Border Regional Commission’s importance to Northern New Hampshire at the Lebanon Academic Center at 1:30 p.m.
The NBRC helped River Valley Community College renovate a building in downtown Lebanon for its education and training satellite center. Shaheen has spoken out against the Trump administration’s budget proposal that would eliminate the NBRC.
Earlier in the day, Shaheen will visit Costa Precision Manufacturing, a small business that specializes in high-end metal manufacturing, to tour their facility in Claremont at 10:30 a.m. Costa Precision recently became certified under the Historically Underutilized Business Zone Program (HUBZone) program, which provides federal contracting opportunities to small businesses.
Shaheen is the Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business & Entrepreneurship Committee and is a proponent of the program, as it provides local small businesses a preferred status when competing for government contracts and sub-prime contracts.
Later, Shaheen will address the New Hampshire Association of Fire Chiefs at Red Blazer Restaurant in Concord at 5:00 p.m. As a member of the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, Shaheen has fought to ensure New Hampshire’s fire departments receive the resources that they need.
