GROVETON – NSA Industries’ new manufacturing facility in Groveton hasn’t opened yet, but the Vermont firm is already working on an expansion, NSA president James Moroney told InDepthNH.org.
It relates to NSA’s December purchase of New Hampshire Precision Metal Fabricators Inc. (NHP) in Londonderry, N.H.
Moroney says the Londonderry facility will be closed and the 70 workers will have a choice of moving to Groveton or NSA in Vermont.
“That transition is going to take place between now and the end of March,” he said.
He said NSA is trying to help Londonderry employees who don’t wish to relocate.
“We’re introducing them to companies for future employment,” he said.
There is also financial assistance, he said.
In October NSA confirmed plans to open the manufacturing facility in Groveton at the Chapman Industrial Park, the site of the mill that closed about a decade ago.
NSA, which does metal fabricating, machining and powder coating, has a long-term lease for about 73,000 square feet.
It is the first company to locate at the old mill site. At that time the company said it planned to hire 60 workers.
Moroney said about 30 workers are already being trained and equipment is being moved into Groveton.
The need for additional workers would depend on how many move from Londonderry. But Moroney suggested there may be more good news for Groveton, which has struggled economically for the last decade.
“We have other opportunities as well. It is a growing situation,” he said.
