Wind power is already providing enough electricity for some 37,000 New Hampshire homes, and according to a new report from the Environment New Hampshire Research and Policy Center, has removed the equivalent of carbon emissions from 42,000 vehicles in 2014.
Sharon Solomon, global campaign solutions coordinator for the non-profit environmental group, says that policies are needed to keep moving in the direction of renewable energy resources such as wind to battle global warming.
Roger Wood spoke with Sharon Solomon about the new report and where she thinks wind energy is headed. State Rep. Bob Backus, a longtime advocate of renewables, said in a news release issued by Environment New Hampshire, “This report is important since according to the New England ISO, more than 40 percent of anticipated new generation capacity in the region is expected to come from wind.”
Backus represents Hillsborough District 19. “Even though some wind projects in New Hampshire have proved to be controversial, we know that meeting the region’s needs will require we continue to advance this fuel free and therefore non-polluting resource.”
