DURHAM – Tune in to NHPBS Saturday, May 12 at 6 p.m. as Plymouth Regional High School meets Salem High School to determine the 2018 Granite State Challenge champion.
Both teams have taken home championships before, Plymouth was the 1996 and 2013 champion and Salem took the title in 1998 and 2002. The winner of the match will join only three other schools that have taken home three titles – Alvirne (1989, 1994, 2005), Hanover (1991, 2003, 2007), and Winnisquam (1988, 1993, 2004).
Playing for the Plymouth Bobcats are captain Richard Lyons, Rhys Harris, Konner Bird, and Martin Runquist, as well as alternates Austin Sanders and Clayton Titus. They are coached by Jay Fogarty and Troy Harris. The Salem Blue Devils are represented by captain Tony Consentino, Aidan Gallo, Jonathan Tarness, and Ricky Jeffreys, with alternates Alexis Ahern and Oba Oseghali. They are coached by Bernie Campbell.
Hosted by Jim Jeannotte, Granite State Challenge features New Hampshire’s top high school academic quiz teams as they demonstrate remarkable teamwork, quick thinking and smarts to beat the clock and buzz in first on this iconic New Hampshire game show. The game emphasizes quick recall of math, science, social studies, language arts, and fine arts facts—along with questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and New Hampshire.
